First semester is coming to an end and I am drowning in stress. I don’t even have much to finish, I am completely on pace if not ahead. For some reason my brain feels cluttered, three weeks before the semester is over and my brain has decided to shut down! I am stressed but I have no reason to be stressed. I feel like there are not enough hours in the day to go to school, do homework and get enough sleep to be up and running the next day. This has been a trend for me at the end of every semester since I started High School. The stress of the end of this semester and what is coming next semester is consuming me.
“What school are you going too?” “Are you ready for AP Government” “How many volunteer hours do you have?” “Have you finished your senior project?” “Are you ready for your exit interview on the 28th?” “Have you started FAFSA?” “Are you ready for the AP Biology Exam in May?” “Have you sent out your SAT scores?” “Have you sent out your CASSP scores so you are exempt from the EPT?” So many questions and I don’t seem to have an answer to most of them. They all make my stomach turn, so many overwhelming activities. I was told senior year would be difficult, but I wasn’t told it would be like riding a bike that is on fire when you have no idea how to ride a bike.
In some classes no matter how hard I try to keep up with where I am in the course I seem to keep losing track. Some teachers assume that we know exactly what we have to finish before the end of the semester, but reality is that some of them are so unorganized we have no idea where we stand, especially when the class is divided by measurement topics or grade levels. My Educate shows that I am on pace in all of my classes but it isn’t always up to date. With all the technology that is handed to us it becomes difficult at times to keep track of all of the different assignments, in different places, for different classes, and that are at times assigned without a warning to test our ability to keep track of our class assignments.
Then end of this semester means the beginning of next semester, a semester full of stress and tears for most. AP Exams, deadlines, graduation, and most importantly choosing which college we will be attending. I have my heart set on CSU Stanislaus, but sadly financial aid will be what I use to determine which school I will be attending. Next month the placement tests will begin, which is also another thing I have to take into consideration when deciding which school I will be attending. There are also many other variables I have to take into consideration, housing, cost, roommates, distance, and many more. Senior year is portrayed a hundred times easier than what it really is.
