I knew senior year was going to be difficult, this is far beyond the level of difficulty I expected. I have managed to stay on pace in all my classes despite having to worry about college applications and scholarships. I also have to keep in mind that I have to get the most level fours possible in order to get more money for REAP. Nearing the end of first semester I find myself stressed out about college, financial aid, finishing my classes on time, applying for applications and getting level fours.
College applications are driving me insane, so many questions, so many essays and such a long process. I had no idea how hard all of this was going to be. Luckily I have the support of my AVID teacher to help me with the application process. We looked over my CSU Stanislaus application over four times before I sent it in on Tuesday November 10th. I spent weeks working on that application to make it perfect, then I simply copied all the information on to three other applications. I filled out applications for CSU Stanislaus, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, and CSU Fresno. I am also currently working on UC applications and the common application. I am both very excited and nervous about sending out college applications.
Financial aid is what worries me the most, what good would it be for me to get into the school of my dreams if I can’t pay for it. That is why I have been working hard to apply for scholarships, and to earn level fours in order to receive money for REAP. I am trying to be very optimistic and hope for the best regarding admissions and financial aid.
Passing my classes and applying for both colleges and scholarships are my biggest priorities at the moment. Graduating is one of my biggest fears at the moment. Not knowing what is going to happen after graduation intimidates me. Not knowing what college I will be going to, where I will be living, who I will be living with or what to expect is making me very anxious. Being far away from my family is going to be difficult because I have never done it before.
Before the semester ends I have to finish applying for colleges, turn in all my work for all of my classes and work on as many level fours as possible to earn money for REAP. I also have to keep in mind that I need to get as much done as possible because next semester I will not have nearly as much time as I do this semester. I am currently taking AP Biology and next semester I will be taking AP Government as well. Which means that I will have to worry about finishing all my classes, getting ready for graduation and going to college, and on top of that I am going to have to take two AP tests. Luckily I have all the support I need to graduate and go to college.
